EXPERIENCE

I have been practicing counselling for a number of years.

I have worked in a variety of settings, including GP surgeries, hospitals, charities, occupational health, and private practice.

I have experience of the full age range of clients, from young children to the elderly.

I am currently employed as a counselling psychologist in the University Hospital of North Durham Pain Management Unit.

I specialise in counselling people with depression, anxiety and stress problems. I also have an interest in chronic illness and pain management.

MY APPROACH

My approach to counselling is integrative; I draw on a range of different theories from both counselling and psychology.

I tailor my way of working to each individual client, depending on their unique needs and goals. I use person-centred counselling, with a combination of techniques to help facilitate change.

These include psychodynamic, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing.
